 RTA Seniors
Ride Free Discount Cards
Seniors age 65 and older can ride the RTA for free. Stop in the
Township office to apply for the Smart Card. You will need your
driver’s license or state ID card and a passport-size photo to
complete the application. For your convenience, the township can
photograph you for a fee of $8.00. Applications may be accepted
within three weeks of your 65th birthday. Your card will be
mailed to your home within a few weeks.
Deerfield Library Offers Free
Delivery of Books
The Deerfield library has a new
program for the mobility impaired. The library will deliver
books to people who can't get out of their homes without charge.

Hospital Taxi Service
To assist our seniors who go to Highland Park Hospital, the
township provides taxi coupons with a value of $4.25 for each
one-way trip. When used with a Village of Deerfield coupon,
savings are significant. Stop by the township office to pick up
your coupons.
Senior Call
Each business day, the township calls any senior who wants
someone to "check" on them. These friendly calls are usually
scheduled for a time convenient for the senior. Older residents
who live alone and/or have health problems enjoy the daily
contact that provides this security for them. Call our office
for more information.

Winchester House
The township enjoys a close working relationship with Winchester
House, a skilled nursing home located in Libertyville and
managed by Lake County. The 359 bed home has excellent
rehabilitation therapy services and is proud of its 150 years of
long term care for the residents of Lake County. Applications
and information for Winchester House are available at the
township office. |
